Minecraft Dungeons is coming to Steam on September 22

It’s official, Minecraft Dungeons will be the first Minecraft game to be released on Steam. The popular dungeon crawler will launch on Valve’s platform on September 22, where it will be available starting at $19.99 for the Standard Edition, or $39.99 for the Ultimate Edition with all the DLCs plus special bonus content.

Minecraft is one of the rare Xbox IPs that has yet to make its way to Steam, and developer Mojang Studios will be testing waters with Minecraft Dungeons. Until now, the PC version of the dungeon crawler could only be obtained from the Windows 10 Microsoft Store or the standalone Minecraft Launcher for Windows, but bringing the game to Steam will expose it to a much bigger audience.

It remains to be seen if the regular Minecraft game could end up on Steam one day, though that may not happen anytime soon. Minecraft is the best-selling video game of all time with over 200M copies sold and over 126M monthly active users as of last year, and Microsoft may not be ready to share its cash cow with Steam. However, with Halo Infinite and many more Xbox Game Studios games set to launch on Steam in the near future, anything is possible.
