Microsoft’s Xbox Live online service went down earlier today with the outage affecting users on Xbox One, Windows 10 PCs, and Windows phones, preventing them from signing into their accounts and accessing features such as cloud saves and online multiplayer. Most of the Xbox Live services were eventually restored but no explanation was given. Currently the only issue on Microsoft’s official status page is one pertaining to the Xbox One video game, Poker Central and it’s unlikely many users are being affected by that.
While today’s outage was likely just a small technical glitch (and one that was resolved relatively quickly) Microsoft has had some more serious online service outages recently with their Skype, Outlook, and OneDrive services in addition to Xbox Live all going offline for an extended period of time just over a week ago. It’s unknown if today’s outage is connected.
