Even though Microsoft has yet to re-implement a workable mobile payment solution, it does seem to be working on its Wallet App and putting in place some essential pieces. Microsoft has recently pushed out an update to its Wallet App enabling Windows 10 Mobile users to scan and manually add retail loyalty cards to it.
Before the update, the Wallet App relied exclusively on loyalty cards that could be found in the Windows Store, of which, there were few. With the new update, Windows 10 Mobile users can now opt to use both credit-card like reward options or their phones to scan and collect points.

With the update, the Wallet has helped Microsoft’s mobile payment/reward options regained some usefulness that was once lost with the removal of Softcard from the platform.
