Microsoft's Production Studio building 127 was recreated in Minecraft by two kids

As a child, I spent my weekends throwing dirt rocks at passing cars and riding bikes downhill, when I was advised not to. Well 12 year old Alec Baron and 11 year old Alessio Tosolini found much more productive outlets to fill their weekends.

The two middle schoolers embarked on a project that took over 100+hours of collaborative work, 2 computers and a tablet, and spanned the length of four months to recreate Microsoft’s Production Studios Building 127 in the game Minecraft.

Not many of us get a chance to see the inner workings of Microsoft but these two boys were allowed access and mapped the entire area to present a 3D model-virtual tour via Minecraft. This combination of software, gaming and ingenuity are all very good arguments for Microsoft’s purchase of Minecraft.

In under a few months of the acquisition, Microsoft is making it clear that Minecraft among other projects have the potential to be so much more than they are now. Some more about the boys.
