Microsoft: We have no plans to introduce an Xbox One without Kinect

Xbox One

According to a new report, Microsoft has no plans on releasing an Xbox One console by itself. Instead, Microsoft “believes” in the Kinect and will be offering it with the Xbox One entertainment console in November for a price tag of $499. Those wishing to purchase the Xbox One by itself should not keep their hopes up.

“We have no plans to introduce an Xbox One without Kinect. We believe in Kinect and the value it brings to both games and entertainment, and believe $499 is a great value for what consumers receive with their Xbox One,” a Microsoft representative stated. Microsoft shared this response to a rumor that was circulating on the internet claiming that Microsoft would in fact be releasing a Kinect-free Xbox One during the summer of 2014.

Unfortunately, that is not happening. However, Microsoft may change their minds later down the road. Afterall, Microsoft recently changed their minds on the Xbox One DRM policy, among other things, after a large outcry from angry gamers. The current plan involves every Xbox One entertainment console to come bundled with a Kinect, which is reportedly ten times more powerful than the original Kinect.

Do you believe the Xbox One + Kinect bundle is a great deal for $499? Would you rather just purchase the Xbox One by itself? Cast your vote below!
