Microsoft updates Xbox Video for Windows 8.1 Preview users, features darker UI – onmsft.com

Xbox Video

As Microsoft prepare for RTM later this month, it appears they are beginning to push updates out for existing Windows 8.1 Preview users. Today, the Xbox Video app received a rather large update, introducing a very Xbox One-like user interface which also similarly matches the Xbox Music app.

\

While a change-log hasn’t been released with the new update, we can immediately see that this update heavily focused on the UI front. We can also assume that this update addressed bugs that were reported to Microsoft throughout the Windows 8.1 Preview tests.

\

As the UI is heavily influenced from that on the Xbox One, it’s possible that the Xbox Video app on Xbox One is similar, or maybe even exactly the same as it has been rumored that the Xbox One can run Windows RT apps. Xbox Video is most definitely a Windows RT app, so who knows?

\

You can get the update right now from the Windows Store, however it may take some time for the update to appear in your region. Give it 24 hours if it isn’t in your Windows Store yet.
