Microsoft to remove Windows 10 19H1 anti-cheat software upgrade block as game companies release fixes

The list of known issues in the latest Windows 10 19H1 Preview build has just lost an important item this week. Recent 19H1 builds all had problems with games using anti-cheat software trigging bugchecks, forcing Microsoft to put an upgrade block on Insider PCs were the problematic games were still installed.

Yesterday, Microsoft updated the release notes for the 19H1 build 18362 to mention that this issue is about to be resolved. “Many games that use anti-cheat software have released fixes for the issue causing PCs to bugcheck (GSOD). The upgrade block that prevents Windows Insiders from updating to the latest build will be removed soon,” the Windows Insider team explained.

The 19H1 build 18362, which is the latest flight for Windows Insiders in the Fast and Slow Rings still has two incompatibility issues with some Related SD Card readers and Creative X-Fi sound card. Creative recently released updated drivers for Windows 10 version 19H1, but Microsoft’s Brandon LeBlanc said last week that the Windows Insider team was still doing its own validation before crossing that item from the known issues list.

Microsoft has yet to release a new Windows 19H1 build this week, but it seems that the major update is now almost ready to roll out. The software giant previously said that it would use the Release Preview ring for previews of drivers and quality updates, and this may well happen as soon as next week.
