Microsoft throws Windows 10 launch party featuring Macklemore

The launch of Windows 10 wasn’t as star studded in the public eye as Windows 95, which featured commercials with cast members of Friends and the Rolling Stone’s “Start Me Up,” but privately it looks like Microsoft was celebrating with some big names.

GeekWire is reporting on numerous Twitter and Instagram posts from a lucky few who got to enjoy a Microsoft sponsored concert featuring Macklemore & Ryan Lewis to celebrate the shipping of Windows 10. With the hashtag of #Windows10shipparty, the social media posts show that the concert took place yesterday afternoon and according to one Instagram user there was “unlimited beer.”

The folks in Redmond definitely have much to celebrate as after years of hard work to finish Windows 10 during a tumultuous time of layoffs and reorganization, their latest operating system is rolling out worldwide and hitting very high marks right off the bat for upgrades installed.

But the work is just beginning as Windows is now moving to a Software as a Service model (also known in Redmond as Windows as a Service) which will feature continual ongoing support and upgrades on a more frequent basis. And with features still expected such as extension support for Microsoft Edge and a reported new messaging app, there are significant Windows 10 updates just around the corner.
