Microsoft will be rolling out an update to its Microsoft Teams service over the next few days which will enable a variety of new admin features relating to apps (i.e. connected experiences) within Teams.

“Put simply, there will be three new controls that will allow you to manage in detail which third party apps can be used in Microsoft Teams,” Microsoft’s Luis Carrasco states in a blog post. “As an admin, you can choose to allow or block all third-party apps, individually choose which apps to allow or block, choose what happens as new apps get submitted into the Microsoft Teams app catalog.”

As part of this update, the Tabs and Bots will be renamed Apps and admins will immediately be able to enable or disable an app, allow or block all third-party apps, and sideload external apps for testing without submitting them to the Teams app catalog.
