Microsoft Teams to be among the first Progressive Web Apps to hit the Windows Store

During the Microsoft Edge Summit today, news surfaced that the company was in the processing of implementing a change that could help boosts the Windows Store app numbers for the better.

According to Microsoft MVP Ryan Hayes, Microsoft will now crawl the web looking for reputable progressive web apps to fill the Windows Store.

Furthermore, the Microsoft Edge team echoed Hayes’ post by issuing one of their own.

While the news is projected over the coming months, the Microsoft Edge team also noted that the company’s newest collaborative messaging software Teams is one of the first of these PWA’s soon to be available via the Windows Store.

For the past few years, recent Microsoft platforms have shared in a single collective disadvantage. Be it Windows 8, Windows RT, Windows Mobile or Windows 10 and now Windows 10 S, the single narrative that has plagued their growth potential has centered around a lack of apps.

However, with PWA’s making it to the Windows Store over time, the sales pitch of Windows 10 S becomes that much easier for the company as it can now direct a similar looking Chromebook crowd used who has become used to PWAs, to now reconsider a Windows 10 S device.
