Check out Microsoft’s Post Super Bowl Ad

The talk of the Super Bowl ads might be Coinbase’s QR code, and although Microsoft didn’t pay up for its own ad this year, it did release a fun post-game spot over on YouTube. The short 30-second ad wants you to “respect the power of Surface,” and showcases some superstitions behind the game.

Since Microsoft has a big contract with the NFL, the ad naturally highlights how Surface devices are used on the sidelines. In it, there are a few superstitions that Microsoft plays fun at. The first is swiping with the pen to get the ball back, the second is touching the Surface to get a touchdown, the third is turning around with the Surface to turn the defense around.

Of course, superstitions or not, Surface devices have made headlines because of the NFL and it’s likely the “Respect” part of the ad is a nod to this. Back in December, Tom Brady tossed a Surface tablet on the sidelines, after his team fell to a loss against the Saints. The NFL warned him not to do it again, but even before that, Aaron Rodgers did the same back in 2015.
