Microsoft Studios to release Rise of Nations Extended Edition this June

The real-time strategy game Rise of Nations is set to be re-released in June with improved graphics and new improvements by Microsoft, who announced the acquisition of the rights to the franchise over the weekend.

Rise of Nations Extended Edition will include both the original Rise of Nations and its expansion, Thrones and Patriots. The game wil be available exclusively through Steam and utilizes Steamworks for multiplayer gaming. The game supports cloud saves, achievements, trading cards, as well as Twitch integration so gamers can stream online.

“Starting with a single city in the Ancient Age, improve your nation by gathering resources, researching technologies, and constructing the great wonders of the world such as the Pyramids and the Eiffel Tower. Deploy and expand your military to conquer hostile nations with bombers, battleships, and tanks all while consolidating power under your rule,” the game description reads.

The game also features enhances visuals with improved textures, lighting, and water. Full-screen antialiasing has also been added. This visual overhaul to the game isn’t the first game Microsoft has improved as of late. Recently, Microsoft overhauled two other games: Age of Empires II and Age of Mythology.

Rise of Nations Extended Edition will run for $19.99 and you can pre-order the game for $15.99. The game only works on Windows 7 and Windows 8.1.
