Microsoft Studios, the company’s video game publishing division and home of 13 video games studios is becoming Xbox Game Studios today. Matt Booty, Head of Xbox Game Studios announced the rebranding during today’s Inside Xbox live show.

“As we’ve expanded our focus beyond the console, the Xbox brand has also evolved from its original roots. Today, Xbox is our gaming brand across all devices, no matter how or where you want to play, or who you want to play with. In that spirit, I’m pleased to share that we are changing the name of our game development organization from Microsoft Studios to Xbox Game Studios,” explained Booty.

Xbox Game Studios expanded in quite a big way last year, with Microsoft acquiring nothing less than seven new game development studios including Obsidian Entertainment (Fallout: New Vegas), Turn 10 Studios (Forza Horizon 4), and Ninja Theory (Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice). “As a gaming organization, we have never been in a better position to deliver a diverse line-up of exclusive games for Xbox fans now, and in the future,” said Booty, and we can’t wait to see what these new studios will bring to the table in the near future.
