According to a report by Business Insider, Microsoft is apparently laying off team members from Modern Life Experiences. The report indicates that approximately 200 employees will be affected by this move, however, they have the option of seeking other open positions within the company or taking a severance pay settlement. Back in 2018, Microsoft formed the Modern Life Experiences team to lay more emphasis on professional consumers. Specifically focusing on coming up with products and services that resonate with the clients.

A LinkedIn post by Erynn Hesler who serves as a Microsoft senior designer sort of confirmed that there was indeed a shake-up taking place within the Modern Life Experience team and termed it as “hard news” though Microsoft is yet to make an official statement regarding the matter. “To all my colleagues who faced hard news today, please let me know if there’s anything I can do. The culture we created inside a giant company on our small Modern Life Experiences team was so special. Thinking of you all today,” Erynn explained.

We will be sure to keep an eye out and keep you posted as this story unfolds. Remember, Microsoft recently broke its own hiring record, adding 40,000 employees over the year bringing the total number of employees at the company as of June 30, 2022 to 221,000. Microsoft also indicated that it was slowing down the hiring process across Windows, Teams, and Office teams back in May.
