Surface Pro

As part of today’s August 2013 Patch Tuesday, Microsoft has also rolled out a firmware update for the Surface RT and Surface Pro. The update for the Surface RT features a UEFI firmware update that addresses audio issues and updates system drivers to enhance stability and reliability. The update for the Surface Pro addresses system stability, reliability and reduces power consumption.

The Surface RT firmware update optimizes the audio experience at low volumes and removes a perceived pulsing in audio volume for some content. The firmware update also updates system drivers that enhance stability and reliability.

The Surface Pro update features a UEFI and System Aggregator (SAM) firmware update that enhances system stability, reliability, reduces power consumption, and improves touch latency with the touchpad on the Surface Type Cover and Surface Touch Cover.

These firmware updates are only available for Windows 8 and Windows RT. These updates are not applicable on Windows 8.1 or Windows RT 8.1.

Microsoft did not release a firmware update for the Surface Pro last month, so it is good to see a firmware update this time around. For those of you on the Surface RT or Surface Pro, head over to Windows Update to snag the firmware update. Let us know in the comments below if you notice anything new or changed.
