Microsoft to roll out Windows Phone 8.1 update in June

Windows Phone 8 users who are waiting patiently for the new 8.1 update on their phones, we’re afraid there is a sad news. At an event in Bangalore, a Microsoft executive has told Gizbot that the Windows Phone 8.1 update will be available by mid-June, and Lumia devices will receive the update by the end of the same month.

Vineet Durani, Director of the Windows Phone Business Group at Microsoft, told the publication that the update will arrive in June, contrary to earlier Microsoft announcements that stated late April and early May. Lumia handsets will also be receiving the Cyan update which will bundle both Windows Phone 8.1 update and exclusive Lumia features. The Finnish giant has confirmed that all Lumia smartphones running Windows Phone 8 will be getting the Lumia Cyan update.

However, you don’t really need to wait that long. Windows Phone 8 users can also try the preview of Windows Phone 8.1 which Microsoft released for developers on the 14th this month. Windows Phone 8.1 sports several dozens of features and some of the key features include Cortana, as well as the Action/Notification center.
