Microsoft reveals plans for the rollout of Windows 10

With only 4 weeks to go before the global release of Windows 10, now is crunch time for Microsoft. And in a new Blogging Windows post, it has detailed the process by which the newest version of its flagship operating system will be rolled out.

More than for almost any other software maker, Microsoft has to take variety into account when optimizing Windows 10. Catering for the thousands of different machine varieties that have been released since the debut of Windows 7 is no easy task, with the firm going so far to say that regarding optimization,

“we are not yet done, we will never be done”

To aid in this process, Windows 10 images will soon be provided to various manufacturers, who will in turn help to optimize the software for their hardware and proprietary systems. For some, such as Samsung devices (with many proprietary services installed), this may mean a slight delay in the arrival of Windows 10 for these machines.

Prior to the launch of Windows 10, those who have reserved a copy of the software ought to find it downloaded to their machines, meaning that everything should be ready to go at a moment’s notice, that is unless a problem occurs. To this end, Microsoft is still working with over 5 million Windows Insiders, who are constantly providing feedback on the quality, stability and readiness of Windows 10.

Copies of Windows 10 will also be distributed to retailers across the world prior to its global launch, to allow them to come to terms with the new software. This will in turn be to the benefit of new customers, who will be able to seek advice from their local retailers when it comes to the installation of their new software.

With the goal to reach 1 billion devices with Windows 10 installed, it is clear that Microsoft has prepared well for the rollout.

What feature are you most looking forward to in Windows 10?
