Microsoft reportedly restricting Lumia 630 and Lumia 930 from switching Google as IE's default search engine

Future Lumia handsets might not offer you the option to set Google as IE’s default search engine. While a majority of the current Lumia handsets do let you decide which search engine you would like to use, Microsoft’s first handsets after competition of Nokia’s acquisition — Lumia 630 and Lumia 930 — are said to ship without that option.

Until now, Nokia allowed users to change their search engine on Internet Explorer, however, it had always restricted that ability on the physical search key which uses Bing to gather information. Of course phone OEMs and carriers could decide to tweak those settings.

While some of the tested unlocked version of the phones didn’t have the ability to switch search engines, some European variants of the Lumia 630 handset do offer the ability to set Google as the default search engine. I do know that the Indian version of the Lumia 630 does allow you to change Internet Explorer’s default search engine to Google.
