Microsoft aren’t wasting that acquisition of Skype that took place back in 2011, as today a new report has claimed that Microsoft is planning to put Skype at the center of all its communication services, including Xbox LIVE chat.

Microsoft to replace Xbox LIVE chat with Skype in next Xbox onmsft.com January 18, 2013

“Skype will become the default chat service on the next generation Xbox console as well as on PC and tablets” stated the report.

This isn’t a surprise, as the current Xbox LIVE chat is in need of a serious redoing, its basic and other players are sometimes hard to hear due to the quality of sound transferred across the LIVE service. Hopefully with Skype, this will improve. We could also see more video and image based chats too, as Skype is good at things like that!
