Microsoft releases Windows 10 Mobile build 15254.313 with fix for PDF bug

After a little delay, Microsoft has finally released this month’s Patch Tuesday update for Windows 10 Mobile version 1709. Eligible handsets can now download the mobile build 15254.313, which finally fixes the issue with PDFs that couldn’t be opened in Microsoft Edge. This build also brings all the improvements from the PC build 15063.966, which was this month’s Patch Tuesday Update for Windows 10 version 1703.

As of this writing, we’re not seeing this new build on our Fast Ring handsets. Even if Microsoft has stopped releasing new Insider builds for mobile, the company now seems to be treating Insider handsets differently: Last month, non-Insiders received the build 15254.248 while Fast Ring Insiders got the build 15254.249 a couple days later.

If Microsoft is expected to release Windows 10 version 1803 next month, Windows 10 Mobile should remain on version 1709 going forward. This means that the mobile OS will continue to receive monthly quality and security updates for some time, but there won’t be any new features. If you still use a Windows phone as your daily driver, let us know if you encounter any issues after installing this update.
