App Updates

A few days ago, it was reported that Microsoft was nearly set to release updates for all the major core apps in Windows 8 and Windows RT. Yesterday, we saw updates for the Mail, Calendar, People, and Messaging app. Today, three more apps are seeing updates!

Microsoft has rolled out updates for Music, Video, and Games app for both Windows 8 and Windows RT, so head over to the Windows Store to check for updates. You can manually check for updates by accessing the Charms bar while in the Windows Store, and selecting Settings, then App Updates.

So whats new with the Video app? The Video app features performance enhancements and feature updates, including the addition of Closed Captioning for movies and TV shows, according to the update release notes.

The Music app features improvements to simplify access to streaming music for free. It also features an update to streamline the transition from a trial subscription to a paid Xbox Music pass. There is also a fix to minimize occasional playback issues as well as other minor fixes.

The Games app features various performance enhancements and feature updates, including the introduction of game alerts to let gamers know when it is their turn and when their friends have invited them to play.

Hit the Windows Store to grab these three new updates and let us know in the comments below if you have noticed a new feature or improvement.
