Microsoft releases new firmware updates for Surface Laptop Go and Surface Book 1 and 3 – onmsft.com

Microsoft has released a bunch of firmware updates for its Surface Laptop Go as well as Surface Book 1 and 3 devices. The updates are dated back to May 6, but the changelogs have only now been posted on the Surface update history pages.

For Surface Laptop Go owners, the May 2021 firmware updates include the usual stability and reliability improvements. The latest batch also addresses display flicker issues and enhances connection stability and battery reporting. You can check out the full list of changes below:

  • Surface UEFI – Firmware: 8.16.140.0 improves USB 2.0 stability and device reliability.
  • Intel(R) UHD Graphics – Display: 27.20.100.9168 Address display flicker issues and improves graphics stability.
  • Surface System Aggregator– Firmware: 6.212.139.0 Improves battery reporting.
  • Surface Serial Hub Driver – System: 9.54.139.0 Improves device stability by addressing critical bugcheck.
  • Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth – Bluetooth: 22.30.0.4 Addresses critical security vulnerabilities and improves connection stability.
  • Intel(R) WiFi 6 AX201 160MHz – Network adapters: 22.30.0.11 Addresses critical security vulnerabilities and improves connection stability.
  • Surface Dock Firmware Update: 6.1.137.0 Improves stability when connected to an external display via Surface Dock 2.

Moving on, the Surface Book 3 models are also getting new updates that improve graphics stability and address critical security vulnerabilities. Here’s what you can expect to see in Windows Update:

  • (Surface Book Base v3 Firmware Update) – no Device Manager notes: 1.64.137.0 Improves stability and device reliability.
  • Surface System Aggregator – Firmware: 10.312.139.0 Improves stability and device reliability.
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX – Display adapters: 27.21.14.6140 Addresses display flicker issues and improve graphics stability.
  • Intel(R) WiFi 6 AX201 160MHz – Network adapters: 22.30.0.11 Addresses critical security vulnerabilities and improves connection stability.
  • Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth – Bluetooth: 22.30.0.4 Addresses critical security vulnerabilities and improve connection stability.
  • Surface Dock Firmware Update: 6.1.137.0 Improves stability when connected to an external display via Surface Dock 2.
  • Surface UEFI – Firmware: 10.101.140.0 Improves stability and device reliability.

Lastly, Microsoft is rolling out a set of firmware updates for the first-generation Surface Book. The new bits bring security updates as well as improvements for the overall device stability, and you can find the changelog below:

  • Surface UEFI – Firmware: 92.3681.768.0 Addresses security updates and improves system stability.
  • Surface ME – Firmware: 11.8.82.3838 Addresses security updates and improves system stability.
  • Intel(R) Management Engine Interface – System: 2040.100.0.1029 Addresses security updates and improves system stability.
  • Intel(R) ICLS Client – Software devices: 1.62.321.1 Addresses security updates and improves system stability.
  • Intel iCLS Client Extension: 1952.14.0.1470 Addresses security updates and improves system stability.

As usual, the updates are rolling out to all Surface devices running Windows 10 May version 1903 or newer. If you’re unable to download the latest bits from Windows Update immediately, don’t worry, as Surface updates are released in stages. In case you missed it, Microsoft has recently released new firmware updates for the Surface Pro 4 and Laptop 1, 2, and 4 models.
