Windows 8

Microsoft has revealed exactly what the pricing for Windows 8 will be after the $39.99 promotion period ends January 31st of this year. In order for the upgrade to work, users must be running Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista, or Windows 7.

“We are seeing good momentum with Windows 8 today. When upgrading from Windows 7, Windows 8 has a lot to offer including a beautiful new Start screen with live tiles, plus the familiar desktop and faster startup and longer battery life. Today I’d like to share the pricing details for the Windows 8 upgrade editions that will begin in February. I’d also remind you to take advantage of the great upgrade offer which lasts until January 31st 2013,” Microsoft stated in an official blog post.

The pricing will be as follows. Windows 8 Pro upgrade will run for $199.99 online and at retail stores. Windows 8 upgrade will cost $119.99, both at retail and online. The Windows 8 Pro pack, which adds Pro features such as Bitlocker and Windows Media Center to a non-Pro edition, will run for $99.99. Windows 8 Media Center Pack will run for $9.99. However, these prices take affect after January 31st.

Remember, you can still get Windows 8 Pro for a mere $49.99 until January 31st, so if you’ve been waiting to upgrade, now is definitely the time. Along with Windows 8 and Windows 8 Pro, the Windows 8 Pro Pack and Media Center Pack will also cost more, Pro Pack will cost $99 and Media Pack will cost $9.99. If you recently bought a PC with Windows 7, you can get Windows 8 Pro for $14.99 until February 28th, so you have a little more time to upgrade, and at a cheaper cost!
