Microsoft prepares Japan for a 'wonderful' Xbox One launch

It’s very hard to believe, but the Xbox One is still yet to launch in Japan. Despite being one of the most technologically advanced nations in the world, Japanese gamers still have to wait until September — almost a year after the US launch — to get their hands on an official console. But it will be worth the wait. We already know that this is a fantastic console, but it’s looking as though there are some extra treats in store.

Talking to Famitsu, Phil Spencer, head of Microsoft Studios, said that he was “very excited” about the launch and promise gaming fans that there is plenty to look forward to.

“We will release a unique, exclusive title for the Xbox One from a wonderful Japanese developer.” This is a statement that will get tongues wagging. There’s no hint about who the developer is — besides the fact they are Japanese — but if Phil Spencer is excited about it, it sure to be something to look forward to.

But that’s not the end of the story. The launch itself will be boosted by the 2014 Tokyo Game Show (18-21 September), at which gamers can expect “something never before seen” when further announcements are made by Microsoft. Exciting times ahead!
