Microsoft Outlook for iOS and Android picks up an update with a plethora of improvements to calendar and more

Microsoft has released updates for Outlook for iOS and Android with a handful of improvements to several aspects of the app, making it more productive and user-friendly. Among the most notable ones is the improved People’s section which is more of an address book after the latest update.

Users will be able to view contacts saved in different email addresses in a form of an address book which has all the details of the specific contact, ability to start a phone call from the app, send an email, the ability to map the location of the saved address and more. Users can even check all the emails, meetings and files shared with that specific user in a few simple taps. Outlook for Android takes it a step further by allowing users to pull in contacts stored in the phone and create a unified address book so you can view all your contacts at a single location.

Users of the commercial Office 365 or Exchange Server email for work can browse through their companies full organizational directory and look for people. It’s not just the contacts, people can search for other items from within the directory such as conference rooms, distribution lists and Groups.

The Calendar section also boasts a three-day view when in landscape mode which give users the ability to view more on a single screen, especially if they are using a device with a bigger screen such as the Galaxy Note 4 or any other phablet.

There are some search-related improvements as well, making it easier for users to locate the email they are looking for. Just search the item in the app, and it will highlight the specific keyword in the message list, which can assist you in finding the right email you’re looking for.

Here are some other improvements introduced with the latest update:

  • Select all—You can now “select all” to perform bulk operations on messages in a folder (available on iOS, coming soon to Android).
  • Undo of bulk actions—Undo now works on bulk operations like delete and archive.
  • Empty trash/deleted items folders—You can now permanently delete items from your deleted items folder.
  • Localization—Improvements to localization across our 30 languages.
  • Accessibility—Improvements on the message list and compose screen.

Head over to the respective app stores to grab the update app.
