Seattle Sounders

Microsoft has a long history of sports sponsorships, including the NFL, the Seattle Seahawks, and the WNBA Seattle Storm. Since the firm’s inception in 1975, and its eventual market dominance, Microsoft has spread the love a little to help improve its image locally.

Redmond have kept this tradition alive with their latest announcement, and will sponsor the Seattle Sounders soccer team throughout 2015 and into 2016. As such, the Xbox logo will continue to be displayed on the team’s jerseys, as it has been for several years now. The team has had the logo featured prominently since their move to Major League Soccer in 2009, when they sealed a four-year sponsorship deal with Microsoft, which was then extended in 2013.

Seattle soccer fans can rest easy now, knowing their local team is safe for a few years yet.

Should Microsoft have sponsored another team? Let us know in the comments below.
