Microsoft offers a free game to xbox one owners suffering from faulty disc drives

When the Xbox One launched on November 22nd, a small number of new Xbox One owners were facing faulty disc drives. To help ease frustrations, Microsoft is offering a free Xbox One game on top of the replacement console that was sent to those affected by the issue.

“While a replacement console is on its way, we want to ensure our advance exchange customers can stay in the game. We will provide each of them with a free digital download of one of the launch titles published by Microsoft Studios,” Microsoft stated in a customer service email.

The free game choice includes Dead Rising 3, Forza Motorsport 5, Ryse Son of Rome, and Zoo Tycoon. Customers can only select one title for free.

No word on if this offer only applies to certain individuals experiencing the disc drive issue, or if all customers with faulty Xbox Ones will have the choice of selecting a free game title. The faulty disc drive apparently makes loud grinding noises and refuses to play games on disc in some situations.

Either way, a free next-gen game title should help ease frustrations just a little. Were you affected by the faulty disc drive issue?
