Microsoft India's latest excellence center to come to West Bengal

Seeing the tremendous talent in the country, Microsoft is planning to set up another engineering center, also known as an excellence center, in India. Microsoft IT India is in talks with the West Bengal government to set up a center of excellence in the state. This would be Microsoft’s third engineering center in India, as the first two are available in Hyderabad and Bangalore.

“West Bengal in particular has produced many incredible engineers who now contribute to Microsoft globally. There is [a] tremendous talent in West Bengal. We are setting up a center of excellence in the state the details of which are being worked out,”  managing director of Microsoft IT India Raj Biyani told reporters.

“Engineers from the state work in MS offices globally. We are eager to participate in West Bengal’s growth story,” he added.

India is one of Microsoft’s biggest markets, and it is time Microsoft India, a subsidiary of the US-based software giant, started banking on its success. “MS India is needed to be seen as a successful entity in the entire MS eco-system,” Biyani said.

The company hopes to bring the latest technologies to Indian as well as multi-national companies. Meanwhile, the local government has welcomed this idea and is eager to accommodate said engineering center. “The project will be first vetted by the legal department after which the MoU will be signed,” said minister Partha Chatterjee.
