In a new blog post, Microsoft has revealed some new security additions to Outlook.com, the company’s new email service. Microsoft announced two new security features that will help fight common phishing attacks and allow for even more protection when reading or sending email.

“Over the past several weeks since we announced Outlook.com, we’ve continued to work to deliver you the highest levels of security and protection technologies. Today, we are excited to announce two important new security features that help fight common phishing attacks and provide you with even more protection,” Microsoft stated in an official blog post. Microsoft has added support for DMARC, which will make it harder for someone to send phishing mail to your inbox. Microsoft has also added support for Extended Validation Certificates (EV Certificates), which allows for a more secure SSL connection when using Outlook.com. Microsoft is also touting Outlook.com as the first major email service to provide a higher level of safety and security.
