The seventeenth annual Imagine Cup championship is taking place on May 6 at 8 AM Pacific Time right from Microsoft Build. For those who might be unfamiliar, the Imagine Cup brings teams of students all of whom create applications to “solve the toughest problems” using Microsoft’s technologies.

The winning team will take home $100,000 in cash plus Azure credits and will also get to meet Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella for a one-on-one mentoring session. Many teams are participating, so you’ll be able to watch what the finalists have to offer on the date above.

Last year saw the Canadian smartARM as the winner of the 2018 Imagine Cup for their robotic psosthetic hand with a built-in camera at the palm used for recognizing objects to find the best grip. The prosthetic was made possible thanks to Microsoft Azure Computer Vision and machine learning in the cloud.

If you head over to the Imagine Cup website, you’ll be able to find more information this year’s competition taking place next week, as well as add the event to your calendar to be able to livestream the event.
