Microsoft: Here are the best Windows Phone and Windows apps for 2014

The 2014 year is about to end, and so much has happened in the past several months when it comes to the software giant. The company introduced the latest Windows Phone 8.1 operating system which introduced some much needed features. Furthermore, Microsoft launched a number of budget-friendly and mid-range devices to cater to the needs of its users.

Well, it’s not just the devices and features, we’ve seen several popular developers jumping on the Windows Phone bandwagon with their apps which definitely helps in reducing the app gap. If you missed out, Microsoft has compiled some of the best apps released this year for Windows and Windows Phone devices.

The list includes some popular apps which were missing from the Windows Phone and Windows, notably some popular games like Candy Crush Saga and Minecraft: Pocket Edition for Windows Phone which have received their fair share of success on other platforms. It’s not just these two, the list further mentions some popular apps and games such as FIFA 15, Age of Empires: Castle Siege, Flipboard, Asphalt 8: Airborne, Uber, and many more.

Most of these apps don’t need any introduction. Candy Crush Saga doesn’t need any introduction, if you ask me, it’s one of the most addictive puzzle games available — there have been several games with a same genre so I find it a little strange that it created so much hype. As for Minecraft, it’s yet another popular game which made its way to Windows Phone recently, after Microsoft acquired the developer behind it for billions of dollars — Mojang.

It’s not just the new apps, the list contains the best apps, some of which are universal while others are on either one of the platforms — Windows and Windows Phone.

You can check out the collections in the Windows Store and Windows Phone Store. Let us know about your favorite apps and games for this year.
