Microsoft Garage updates Next Lock Screen on Android, offers more customization options and weather information support

Last month, Microsoft Garage released an Android lock screen application called Next Lock Screen which aims to provide users with the information they need on their lock screen so you don’t have to unlock your device. You can see your calendar items, missed calls, text messages and more without unlocking your device. 

For those of you who don’t know, Microsoft Garage is a program inside the software giant where employees and interns to use their free time to work on any other project, which even includes developing apps for rival mobile operating systems. Users also get to have an early look at the projects the team is working on, and for which platform. The team at Microsoft Garage is working on a number of interesting consumer-oriented apps such as Journeys and notes, Next Lock Screen, Torque (an app for Android Wear smartwatches), and Voice Commander for Xbox One. Microsoft Garage updates Next Lock Screen on Android, offers more customization options and weather information support

Recently, the guys at the software giant pushed an update for the app, introducing offering more features to its users. Among the newly introduced features is the ability to select your home screen wallpaper on the lock screen as well. It can even display weather information for your location so you can find out if its a good idea to go out for walk or for any other purpose. Furthermore, the update also offers better integration on Samsung devices running KitKat as their operating system.

  • Weather information for your location
  • Select your home wallpaper as the lock wallpaper
  • Ability to hide the system status bar
  • Better integration with the default device lock on Samsung devices running Kitkat
  • Performance improvement and bug fixes
