Following the announcement by Docker that it is to considerably broaden its orchestration ecosystem, Microsoft, in keeping with its promise to continue supporting the Docker community, has announced beta releases for Docker Machine and Docker Swarm on Azure, and also Docker Machine Support on Hyper-V.

This means that users can now automate Docker host creation on Azure using the Docker Machine client for Linux or Windows. This allows for greater efficiency when automating management tasks, which is often quite a complex process. In addition to this, with Docker Swarm, developers can now choose their own infrastructure and scale as required according for their needs and which environments they test. This includes the capability to run Azure Virtual Machines, allowing developers to schedule automated tasks and save time further.

The list of partners working with Docker is quite expansive, including Amazon Web Services, Google, IBM, Joyent, Mesosphere and VMware in addition to Microsoft. Aiming to empower developers by removing barriers to their work, the Docker program has achieved considerable success, and with these latest improvements, will continue to do so.
