The Microsoft Edge team is back from vacation and is kicking off 2022 with a new Edge Dev build. The build comes in at version 99.0.1131.3 and brings a couple of changes, but won’t hit MacOS. At the same time, Microsoft also says that Edge 98 should be moving to the Beta channel soon, too. We have a look at everything you need to know.
As always, there’s the new stuff first. Microsoft has added the ability to manually set which profile certain websites open in via edge://settings/profiles/multiProfileSettings. They also added the ability to edit saved passwords from the initial dialog to save them. Another new feature is a new option to the right-click menu to open links in new Application Guard windows when Application Guard is available. Other new features are below.

Just as you’d expect from the first major release from a new version number, there’s a ton of fixes, too. These cover crashes with websites, the address bar, downloads, shopping extensions, and more. Of course, a couple of changed behaviors also come in this release. We hit some of the highlights below and remind you to check out the full changelog at Microsoft.

- Fixed a crash when interacting with misspelled words that have been identified by the spellchecker.
- Reduced the amount of blank unloaded pages when scrolling through PDFs.
- Improved the blocking of malicious URLs that are manually sent to the browser during startup.
- Improved the performance of the startup page by pre-rendering it when possible.
- Fixed an issue where the System And Performance settings page is sometimes blank.
- Fixed an issue where the Customize Toolbar settings were missing from edge://settings/appearance.
- Fixed an issue where Spellcheck sometimes doesn’t work in InPrivate windows.
- Fixed an issue where certain UI no longer uses the Windows theme color when the Windows setting to do so is enabled.
With the new year, Microsoft has slimmed down known issues quite a bit. There are only four and they cover ad-blocking extensions, tabs crashing with a specific error, problems with Kaspersky Internet Suite, and wobbling when scrolling.
