Microsoft is currently working on a new option to upload your own background image to be used on the New Tab Page of its new Edge browser. As spotted by Rich Hay, the custom background support is now live on the Microsoft Edge Canary and Dev channels.

If you are a Microsoft Edge Insider, you should be able to personalize your New Tab Page background by following these steps:
- Open Microsoft Edge, update your browser to the latest version (Canary version 85.0.544.0 or Dev version 85.0.538.0)
- Navigate to the gear wheel at the top right corner of your screen, and then choose the custom layout from the list of options.
- Now select “Your own image” option, use the upload button to select an image from your PC, and your New Tab Page will now show the new image as background (as shown above).
If you don’t like the background image, simply use the remove button to switch back to the plain white background. Microsoft keeps experimenting with new features on the Microsoft Edge New Tab Page, which is used to keep you updated with the latest news, and also provides quick access to frequently visited websites.
