Microsoft drops the new and updated OneDrive on Windows Phone, desktop, Mac, iOS and Android

Microsoft relaunched its cloud-storage service SkyDrive as OneDrive today. As part of the rebranding, the software giant updated its apps available across various platforms.

For those of you who have the SkyDrive client installed on your devices, Microsoft says that it will automatically get updated over time. But again, you can cut to the chase by visiting OneDrive’s download page, from where you can get the appropriate version for your device.

Some of the new features you can expect to see in OneDrive’s client for your preferred device are:

  • Video-transcoding: a feature that adjusts the file size of your stored videos in accordance with the bandwidth you have.
  • Automatic Camera Backup: the Android client now automatically uploads photos on the cloud. It’s already available on Windows Phone, Windows 8.1 and iOS.
  • Co-authoring: Perhaps one of the most anticipated feature, now using OneDrive you can collaborate with your colleagues and friends and share files and folders.

While there wasn’t any changelog available for its Android, iOS, Windows 8.1 clients, its Windows Phone counterpart states the following new additions,

  • Improvements over shared files view
  • Allowing you to send multiple files at once
  • Letting you pin folders to the Start screen
  • Allowing you to open the files stored in OneDrive with other apps.
  • A new thumbnail view along with minor bug fixes.

The apps have just become available, and we will be testing them for sure, and will let you know as we discover new things. In the meantime, how do you like this rebranding, and the new features?
