Windows 8

Microsoft has been rumored to be working on a small touch screen device, possible a 7 inch touch device. During the company’s investor call, Microsoft’s CFO Peter Klein dropped hints that Microsoft is already working to create such devices.

During the investor call, Klein mentioned that Microsoft was working with PC OEMs on a new suite of small touch devices powered by Windows. These new devices would launch “in the coming months.” Klein even added that these new devices will offer a competitive price point.

Klein did not go into detail about exactly what the devices would feature, what the screen size would be, or if it was running Windows 8 or Windows RT. However, this does confirm the rumor that Microsoft was working on a small screen touch device.

Microsoft has already lowered the minimum resolution for Windows 8 tablets from 1366×768 to 1024×768, which gave us hope that Microsoft was beginning to work on a small screen touch device. Windows 8.1 is set for release later this year and that update to Windows 8 is set to bring forth updates and upgrades for use on small screens. Everyone ready to fork over some cash for a 7 inch Windows 8 tablet?
