Microsoft cloud and IoT technology powers energy conservation in big buildings

\

Energy conservation and the Internet of Things are two buzz phrases in today’s world and the two often go hand in hand. Moving to sustainable energy becomes more economically viable when less energy is consumed, so new companies are lowering overall energy use to make their new green energy sources go further. The Internet of Things plays a critical role in energy conservation because the first step in solving the energy problem revolves around gathering data. Sensors gather data on use patterns, temperature, motion, etc. to understand where energy is being spent.

\

Small internet connected devices collect data about how buildings are used and how energy flows. From these data sets, engineers can optimize the flow of air conditioning or heating throughout a building to save energy. Sensor data reveals when rooms need to be climate controlled, or when lights need to be on or off. After processing this data in the cloud, ideal use patterns emerge which reduce overall energy usage and expense. Microsoft technology powers the devices gathering data, and Azure computes the best case scenarios and partnerships with companies around the world Microsoft makes the world a more efficient place.
