Microsoft to celebrate 25 years of Solitaire with a tournament, starts June 5th

Solitaire, the popular card game, was pre-installed with almost every version Windows operating system, except Windows 8. Did you know that it has been 25 long years since the game first debuted on the platform? To celebrate the silver jubilee of the game, Microsoft has organized a tournament.

The tournament will internally kick off amongst Microsoft employees today. The players who will lead the internal tournament will go one-on-one against the public in a 25th Anniversary Tournament which will kick off on June 5th and will be hosted within the game.

The tournament will feature games from FreeCell to Spider — actually most of the card games which came out with the operating system. It will be interesting to see if the folks at Microsoft have what it takes to defeat the public.

If you don’t have the game installed, head over to the Windows/Windows Phone Store to download the game and take part in the tournament.
