The environment and climate change are major news these days, and much of the talk swirls around carbon. Wikipedia explains this as “A carbon footprint is historically defined as the total sets of greenhouse gas emissions caused by an organization, event, product or person”.
Microsoft has been at the forefront of environmental issues and now the company has been awarded for its work. Environmental Finance magazine has named the software maker as having the Best Corporate Offset Program.
“Voters were asked to make their selections on the basis of efficiency and speed of transaction, reliability, innovation, quality of service provided and influence on the market, not just the volume of transactions handled”, says Microsoft’s Josh Henretig.
The company has previously touted its programs and the work has paid off with this recognition. “Our carbon offset program is a direct result of our internal carbon fee and Microsoft’s commitment to carbon neutrality. We are honored to be recognized for our carbon offset program and we look forward to continuing to explore ways in which we can reduce our carbon footprint and support a transition to a low carbon future”, Henretig concludes.
