Microsoft announces July 20th RTM for Visual Studio 2015

\

Microsoft announced today on Somasegar’s blog that Visual Studio 2015 will be available for download on July 20th.

\

Visual Studio 2015 is set to be one of the more ambitious releases of the popular integrated development environment with a great deal of new features announced at Build 2015 to support cross platform developers.

\

In describing the scale of the new release, Somasegar says:

\

\

“We are opening up Visual Studio to developers targeting new platforms – from cross-platform mobile development targeting iOS, Android and Windows, to game development targeting Unity, Unreal, Cocos and more.  At the same time, Visual Studio 2015 redefines developer productivity with proactive diagnostics tooling and the new Rolsyn language services for C# and VB.  And together, Visual Studio 2015, Team Foundation Server 2015 and Visual Studio Online help teams to embrace DevOps with great agile backlog management, Azure cloud tooling, hosted continuous integration, and Application Insights across all the components of your application.”

\

\

Some of the announced features listed are:

\

\

    \

  • Tools and services for projects of any size or complexity
  • \

  • C#, Visual Basic, F#, C++, Python, Node.js and HTML/JavaScript
  • \

  • Build for iOS, Android, Windows devices, Windows Server or Linux
  • \

  • Advanced debugging, profiling, automated and manual testing
  • \

  • DevOps with automated deployments and continuous monitoring
  • \

\

\

For more details Microsoft will be hosting a release event on July 20th which can be followed online and will include Q&A sessions and a showcasing of the latest features.
