Microsoft and Gameloft have annouced a major game deal that will bring some exciting games to both Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8. These games will arrive on your favorite platforms starting this fall.

For all the talk about the lack of official games on both Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 platforms, Microsoft announced today a deal with Gameloft, one of the leaders in mobile gaming development. Gameloft will bring 15 games for both Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8. The games are currently in development and will be released later this year.

“We’re thrilled to work with a gaming industry leader such as Gameloft to deliver top casual and core titles to our customers this holiday,” said Steve Guggenheimer, corporate vice president of Developer and Platform Evangelism, Microsoft. “We strive to make Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 the best platform for gaming. With top gaming companies such as Gameloft investing in the platform, it is evident that there is no better time for game developers and gamers alike to choose Windows,” Microsoft mentioned about the deal.

Part of the work that both companies have made in the past resulted in 10 games that were released for Windows Phone 8. With this new deal, Gameloft will be releasing some notable and high quality games that include: Asphalot 8: Airborne, Dungeon Hunter 4, Despicable Me: Minion Rush, Total Conquest, Six Guns and UNO $ Friends. These new games will be developed and released over the next twelve months according to the Microsoft blog post.

Gameloft, on its side, are also delighted to work with Microsoft for the release of these new games. “Gameloft’s AAA-quality games are a perfect match for Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8,” said Baudouin Corman, Gameloft’s VP of Publishing. “Microsoft’s platforms provide a great environment for serious and deeply engaging games. Gameloft will bring its full support, taking advantage of the platforms’ specific features.” With such excitement, we are wondering if the positive attitude that Gameloft is showing towards Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8 can be attributed to the market growth that these two platforms are mutually gaining. In a way, this should be exciting for Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 users.

According to the post, the release of other game tiles will continue in 2014. If Microsoft is able to make such deal with any other company, this will definitely make their mobile platform much more attractive to users. If you are a Windows Phone user, are you excited with this announcement?
