“There will be no talk of new Xbox hardware at E3 or anytime soon. For us, 2012 is all about Xbox 360,” Microsoft stated in an emailed statement. Microsoft is planning on squeezing one more year of sales out of its current model. With statistics showing the Xbox 360 as the number one gaming console in the United States, beating out Sony’s PlayStation 3 and Nintendo’s Wii, for several consecutive months, it is no surprise that Microsoft wants to milk the 360 as much as it can.

Just recently, reports were claiming that Microsoft had started to produce chips for the next generation Xbox. The chips are apparently being manufactured by IBM and Globalfoundries. The chip includes PowerPC microprocessor cores, as well as AMD Radeon HD graphics engine based on the graphics core next architecture.

There were also rumors about Microsoft announcing a new Xbox console at this years E3 conference, but according to a senior marketing director at Microsoft, the company will not be announcing any new console. However, the newest rumor states that Microsoft may announce the next generation Xbox at next years E3.
