Marvel’s Spider-Man May Be Coming To Xbox Consoles After All… In Fortnite – onmsft.com

Sony may be preventing the character of Spider-Man from coming to the Xbox One and Windows version of the Marvel’s Avengers video game but it looks like they may have been willing to compromise when it came to the uber-popular Fortnite.

The current season of Fortnite, Chapter 2 Season 4, is essentially one massive Marvel event with various Marvel locations being added to the map, a Battle Pass made entirely up of Marvel characters, and the impending arrive of Galactus which is causing rifts to reappear all across the Battle Royale island.

While Spider-Man didn’t make the season’s Battle Pass roster, additional Marvel characters were always expected to arrive as separate purchases throughout the season, the first of which has already been added in the form of Silver Surfer. No future characters have been officially confirmed but a number of clues have been found in-game that heavily hint at their inevitable arrival.

Black Panther and Ant-Man locations recently appeared on the map which suggest that at least those two characters from the respective franchises will come to the game. Black Panther-specific abilities have also been located within the game code by leakers which pretty much confirms that the king of Wakanda is a lock.

Of particular note is the Season 4 challenge, Thwip!, which is named after the comic book sound effect for Spider-Man’s web shooters. It features the Spider-Man face icon on it and can be unlocked by defeating any opponent with the harpoon gun.

There is a lot of trolling with fake Fortnite news online but I confirmed that it’s real after personally unlocking it myself last night while playing as Silver Surfer. You can check it out in the clip below and via the image above.

Many gamers, including myself, were furious with the announcement of Spider-Man being exclusive to the PlayStation 4 version of Avengers but this would heal a lot of wounds. Sony has also allowed Spider-Man to be used in other non-PlayStation games such as the LEGO Marvel Superheroes and Disney Infinity titles in the past so this wouldn’t be out of the question.

It would also be insane for Epic Games to include this Easter Egg knowing full well how much Fortnite players search for clues for future content within the game and its code and, let’s face it, selling Spider-Man outside of the Battle Pass will make everyone involved a lot of money very quickly.

What do you think? Do you believe Spider-Man will be coming to Fortnite? Will we get Peter, Miles, or both? Share your thoughts with the community in the comments below and then follow us on Pinterest, Twitter, and Facebook for more gaming news.
