Manus has launched a new desktop app called “My Computer” that turns your Mac or PC into a personal AI agent, and the system runs directly on your device so it can manage files, execute commands, and automate everyday workflows without relying only on the cloud.
According to Manus, the app brings its AI “out of the cloud and onto your computer,” allowing it to “manage your local files, execute commands, and interact directly with your workspace” while working closely with your apps, tools, and system processes.
The desktop app connects to your system terminal and runs command line instructions, which lets it read, analyze, and edit local files while also launching and controlling applications as needed, so users can complete complex tasks with simple instructions.
What you can do with it
Manus highlights real use cases that focus on time-consuming tasks:
- Organize thousands of photos by content into structured folders
- Rename large batches of files like invoices in seconds
- Analyze and edit documents directly from your system
- Automate repetitive workflows across apps and tools
In one example, Manus explains how a florist can ask it to “organize my flower shop photos,” and the system scans, categorizes, and sorts everything into clean folders within minutes.
The app is now available for Apple Silicon Macs, and it positions Manus as a direct competitor to tools like OpenClaw and Perplexity’s Personal Computer.
