Lumia 950 and 950 XL prices dropped at Microsoft Stores, now $399 and $499 with no special offers

While the HP Elite x3 is set to soon replace the Lumia 950XL as the most powerful Windows phone in the market, there is a good chance that the high-end fifth generation Lumias will remain a popular option among Windows 10 Mobile enthusiasts over the coming months. The main reason is price, as the premium Lumias have now become much more affordable.

Earlier this month, we reported that the US Microsoft had temporarily dropped the prices on both devices, bringing the Lumia 950 down from $549.00 to $399.00 and the bigger Lumia 950 XL down from $649 to $449. While these temporary discount were expected to end yesterday August 14th, these discounted prices remain today on the US Microsoft Store (with a slight bump up in the 950 XL price to $499) and the company has also edited the store listings to remove all mentions of the temporary discounts (via Neowin).

While these discounted prices now look to be permanent, be aware that Microsoft will no longer give you a free Microsoft Dock along your purchase. If you live in Canada, it seems that the Canadian Microsoft Store has also permanently discounted the Lumia 950 and 950XL and you can buy them for CAD $549 and CAD $649, respectively. Let us know in the comments if you think now is a good time to purchase a high-end Lumia.
