Lumia 520 and 521 now own more than half of Windows Phone market in the US

The Nokia Lumia 520 and Lumia 521 now own more than half of Windows Phone market in the United States, according to data from AdDuplex. The Lumia 520 remains the top Windows Phone device worldwide, while the Lumia 620 now owns the second place position, worldwide.

“This report is based on data collected from 3568 Windows Phone apps running AdDuplex SDK v.2. The raw data analyzed was collected over the day of March 18th, 2014 (UTC time) unless otherwise stated. We have made every attempt to consolidate different reported phone model names under their canonical retail model names, but it is possible that some of the rare model name variations were not accounted for,” AdDuplex stated in a disclaimer.

The 41MP Lumia 1020 is currently at 15th place, while the 6-inch 1080p Lumia 1520 is currently at 20th place. Verizon’s latest flagship Windows Phone device, the Lumia Icon, is currently in 38th place.

The report from AdDuplex also states that 47% of Windows Phone 8 devices worldwide have the GDR3 (or Update 3) installed. It’s alarming to note that more than half of Windows Phone 8 devices out in the world are not running the latest update to the operating system.

AT&T remains the top Windows Phone carrier with a 33.2% share, while TMobile comes in second place at 25.2%. MetroPCS rounds out the top three Windows Phone carriers with a 14.6% share, beating out Verizon’s 13.4% share.
