Logitech to launch a cloud gaming handheld device – onmsft.com

On August 2 Logitech announced a partnership with Tencent Games to create a cloud gaming handheld device. The announcement was made in a post on Logitech’s official blog. The post stated that the partnership “will combine Logitech G’s expertise in hardware with Tencent Games’ expertise in software services.”

While the as-yet-unnamed handheld in question will support multiple cloud gaming services, both Logitech and Tencent are working closely with Xbox Cloud Gaming and it wouldn’t be too presumptuous to think that that may ultimately be where the focus will lie. Xbox Cloud Gaming is one of the biggest cloud gaming services out there with over 10 million users worldwide. The Logitech/Tencent partnership will also be working with NVIDIA GeForce NOW teams on the project.

Today marks the start of a new opportunity for our companies to further push the frontiers of gaming devices.”—Daniel Wu, general manager of Tencent Games Smart Solution Innovation Lab

For some time now many in the Xbox community have been clamoring for an Xbox handheld. This new endeavor with Logitech and Tencent Games is likely about as close as to an Xbox handheld device as we are ever going to get.
