Latest VLC Beta update for Windows Phone includes a new dark theme, 720p support and more

The VLC app for Windows Phone has been receiving a steady flow of updates, with the last one being as recent as a few days ago. And now, yet another update should be waiting for you in the Windows Phone store.

VLC Beta is now up to version 1.0.10 and it introduces a few new welcome features. Starting with the aesthetics, VLC now defaults to a new dark theme following the update, in addition to the first round of new icons VLC is starting to look like a more polished application. The developers have also added 720p playback support, however they noted that there is no hardware decoding yet.

The update also makes improvements to now playing songs, fixes playback issues, and introduces a reworked music indexing algorithm that should result in better album cover detection. An interaction improvement includes the ability to tap and hold albums, tracks, and artists instead of being forced to tap the “…” icon to get to the flyout menu.

It’s a nice update that shows progress as VLC heads towards exiting beta. The next update, v1.0.11 should see more new icons, a share button, and even more improvements, changes, and bug fixes, although there is no release date for it yet.

Download VLC Beta v1.0.10 over at the download link below. Enjoy!
