Have been trying to run Windows 11 on your device, but have been unable to because of the set Microsoft’s restrictions? Microsoft made it mandatory for the user to have a Microsoft Account first, this being specifically tied to Windows 11 Home. However, Windows 11 Pro would allow users to bypass this requirement, as a local account would suffice. Though this changed recently as Windows 11 Pro also picked up on this, and made it mandatory for the user to have a Microsoft Account set up first.

There are unofficial workaround’s to Microsoft’s set of fairly strict restrictions for installing Windows 11, including the open source bootable USB drive utility Rufus. If you are using Rufus’ latest pre-release version 3.19 Beta, you will be able to bypass the mandatory Microsoft Account requirement on Windows 11 22H2. This was unpacked as one of the key features in the new selection dialog for Windows 11 setup customization in Rufus. Check out the full changelog, to see the changes and enhancements made.
